It was an exciting day of speedball taking place at the Cape Argus Sportshow on 20 March 2016 where the first ever SANPA Provincial Cup was held with teams from Gauteng, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape as well as Kwa-Zulu Natal.
We saw our new and upcoming young players from Gauteng and the Western Cape U19 teams taking to the field first after which the Gauteng and Western Cape mens teams took the field. We saw extremely fast paced games, with lots of action and entertainment for spectators to watch throughout the day.
Teams that competed at the first provincial cup:
- Gauteng Golden Knights Mens / U19
- Western Cape Mens / U19
- Eastern Cape Mens
- Kwa-Zulu Natal Mambas Mens
Players competed in a 10 minute game where they had to score as many points as possible by eliminating players from opposing team and hitting the buzzer and the opposing teams start station. A team that had a 4 point lead would automatically win even if there was still time left on the clock.
The Gauteng Golden Knights Men’s team was undefeated the whole day with a 4-0 score straight into the finals.
Both U19 teams performed exceptionally well and gave the majority of the men’s team a run for their money.
We would like to congratulate both the Gauteng Golden Knights Mens as well as U19 teams with their victory in the first ever Provincial Cup for 2016.
