Various questions have been raised regarding the hydro testing of paintball cylinders in South Africa.
Currently SANPA is working closely with the Department of Labour / OHS / PER and SANAS to make sure paintball cylinders are addressed in the SANS 10019 standard. Various documentation have been handed in relating to paintball cylinders and international standard relating to hydro testing as well as filling of these cylinders.
As the regulation stands at the moment, as agreed upon by peers in the industry, an air cylinder will need to be visually inspected every 2 years and hydro tested every 4 years from date of manufacturing and thereafter from date of test.
Please note that scuba cylinders will need to be visually inspected yearly and hydro tested every 4 years from date of manufacturing and thereafter from date of test.
