SA representative team at Paintball World Cup 2015

Our SANPA SA representative paintball team competed at the Paintball World Cup Asia 2015 in both the Nations Cup as well as Division 1.

They arrived at the island of Langkawi in Malaysia on Tuesday 27 October and will be returning to South Africa on Tuesday 3 November.

The Opening Ceremony was held on Thursday 29 Oct with dignitaries from Malaysia and the various paintball federations attending – http://livestream.com/accounts/15088452/OPENINGCEREMONYOn Friday the team opened the nation cup field and unfortunately lost their first match 4:2 against a very strong team USA.  After this they pulled it together with a strong victory of 4:2 against Team Malaysia.

On Saturday 31 Oct the team smashed New Zealand with a 4:0 victory and had an intense game against India where they were 1:3 behind and pulled it back with a few seconds left on the clock to take a 4:3 victory.  They made it to the quarter finals and will be competing against Austria at 13:30 (7:30am SA time) on Sunday 1 Nov.

On Sunday 1 November the team took on Austria in a nail biting quarter final game that turned in our favor with a 3:2 win.

We then had to take on Team USA again in the semi finals and this team played a strong game, but team USA was stronger and won 2:1.

We then had to battle it out with Team Belgium for 3rd and 4th and unfortunately lost this game 4:0 giving us a 4th place overall in the 2015 Paintball World Cup which is a huge improvement over our previous 13th placement at the Paintball World Cup 2013 that was held in Chantilly, Paris.

Team USA was the overall winners, with France taking a second and Belgium a 3rd place and Team SA 4th.

We are extremely proud of the team and their achievements and looking forward to welcoming them back in South Africa!
